As reported in March, ACRS JAS-ANZ accreditation to the new fabrication standard AS/NZS 5131: 2016 Structural Steelwork-fabrication and erection, was awarded in January 2018, making ACRS the first certification body accredited to this essential standard.

Since March, ACRS structural steels certificates have been amended to provide appropriate references to AS/NZS 5131. This development ensures all ACRS structural certificate holders demonstrate full compliance with this Standard for the sections of the Standard covered by the ACRS steel product scheme, such as “documentation and traceability” (section 4), “materials” (section 5), “preparation, assembly, and fabrication” (section 6), and “welding” (section 7).

This means ACRS certificates clearly demonstrate to steel specifiers, purchasers, and end-users the necessary evidence of compliance of steelmaking and steel fabricating to the relevant sections of AS/ZNS 5131 for use with any of the new steelwork fabricator schemes available in Australia and New Zealand.
